James Feeley, 56, was arraigned on one count of aggravated rape of a child and seven counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 on Wednesday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said. He is being held on a $200,000 bail. He must avoid the victim and wear an ankle monitor.

He was originally arrested in December 2023 after he allegedly confessed to his chief and other police officers about the prolonged abuse, reports said.

Feeley is alleged to have abused the child during the past year, prosecutors said.

Feeley has been with the Winthrop Police Department for 21 years, according to his LinkedIn page. He was no longer with the department in January after he was put on administrative leave.
